On Being Noncommercial

Core MAC Institutional Value

The instructors of the Makati Aikido Club teach for love of the art. They do not accept payment of any kind for their teaching. This is a foundational principle that has held since 1983.

This has practical implications:

  • Classes are never held back to drive membership subscriptions
  • Promotions are never rushed to satisfy commercial incentives
  • The focus is always on the quality of training, not on attracting or retaining paying students

The club charges only small voluntary contributions sufficient to cover rent and equipment repairs and maintenance.

Not sure yet?
Come and watch a class.

Simply show up 15 minutes before any scheduled class and introduce yourself to the instructor or to anyone who appears to know his way around. They will take care of you from that point. That is all.
