Free MAC Workshop on Body Intelligence and Injury Prevention

November 21, 2019

The Makati Aikido Club hosted a free workshop on Body Intelligence and Injury Prevention on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at its Makati Sports dojo, right after the regular 6:30–8:00 p.m. aikido class. The 30-to-40-minute session was conducted by Joanne Ignacio, an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, NASM-certified personal trainer, ISSA Corrective Exercise Specialist, and fellow aikidoist, and gave participants insight into the workings of the human body, with an emphasis on injury prevention and more efficient movement.

The workshop was open to MAC members and any friends they wished to invite, free of charge; attendance at the preceding aikido class was not required. It was the first of what was planned as a series of introductory sessions drawn from a longer course Ignacio had developed, covering topics from joint, ligament, and muscle anatomy to mobility, flexibility, and stability testing — with follow-up workshops planned to cover material the 30-to-40-minute format couldn't fit in.

Come and watch a class.

Simply show up 15 minutes before any scheduled class and introduce yourself to the instructor or to anyone who appears to know his way around. They will take care of you from that point. That is all.
