MAC's 25th Anniversary: A Quarter-Century of Aikido, Six Teachers, One Special Event

December 13, 2008

To celebrate 25 years of training, the Makati Aikido Club held a special two-hour class taught by six experienced teachers, each covering a chosen martial theme: Mitsuhiro Ito on rotation of the core muscles, Troy Nones on wrist rotation, Billy De Leon on destabilizing uke, Royce Coffee on atemi, Royce Reyes on relaxed shoulders, and Dam Amaranto on centering.

Founded in 1983, MAC is among the pioneers of aikido in the Philippines. Over the years, more than 2,000 students trained with the club, with a number of alumni going on to found their own clubs or become senior members of overseas aikido clubs.

The anniversary class was held December 13, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. at the Makati (Sports) Club basement, with a P100 mat fee. Afterward, members reconnected over food and drinks at the club's traditional Christmas party at The Bread Box Restaurant on Guijo Street, Makati City.

Come and watch a class.

Simply show up 15 minutes before any scheduled class and introduce yourself to the instructor or to anyone who appears to know his way around. They will take care of you from that point. That is all.
